Abstract

Background. Currently, one of the priority areas of higher education is the strengthening of the role of scientific activity of universities, fundamental and applied research in the preparation of highly qualified competitive personnel. The purpose of the work is to identify the factors of the formation of scientific competence of students and the features of effective integration of education and science in research universities.
Materials and methods. As methods of structuring the categorical research apparatus, retrospective content analysis, factor analysis for identification of the factors of integration of science and education in the research university was chosen.
Results. The study systematizes the categorial apparatus used in studying the scientific competence of students. The conditions for the effective integration of science and education are determined, and the factors determining the formation of unique scientific, scientific and practical competencies of students of research universities are identified. The results of the integration of research activities and the educational process in the research universities of the Russian Federation are assessed.
Conclusions. The theoretical significance lies in the development of a scientifically grounded approach to the formation of scientific competence based on the integration of science and education. The practical importance of the study is determined by the universality of the application of the proposed recommendations within the learning process in various areas of training in research universities.
